By Man or by Machine: The Business of Embroidering Merchandise

Embroidery is a widely known fabric designing technique using needles and thread. Specific stitching techniques are used to add designs and images on a variety of products, such as clothes, bags, hats and other apparel. Beads, sequins and other colorful tools can also be used to bring out more unique designs.

Though the stitching method is still widely used today, most sewing and shirt design companies now use machines for more precise and quality designs done in a very short amount of time. Through the incorporation of software and sewing devices, tailors can now be more productive in their business, offering options for design customization, based on what the client wants.

There is a vast amount of creative opportunities that businesses can use with the technology of digital embroidery. Designs, for example, can be translated onto a shirt, and can be modified or converted accordingly. Mass production becomes a lot easier to accomplish, too, because the digital template is easily accessible through the machine’s memory.

Thanks to machine embroidery, the art and business of embroidery have undeniably improved and advanced over the years. Now that the technology is widely available for enjoyment and utility, whether by hobbyists or businesses, the only thing needed to sustain this opportunity now would be the innate creativity to keep coming up with designs that can be patronized by the clients.
